Authority

Do I have to obey every authority even if it is against God's law?

The only time you can disobey human authorities is if what you are told to do fails the test of the Word of God. When you disobey there will likely be consequences, as Ambassadors of Christ our attitude when we do disobey should be in a respectful manner and not in a rebellious or malicious way. Daniel is a very good example of someone who remained faithful to God when he was asked to eat meat offered to idols by Ashpenaz, the master of the eunuchs under the instructions of king Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel politely refused by pleading with the master of the eunuchs and the Bible says he found favour with him (Dan.1:1-16).
Another example is found in Acts3 and 4, where Peter and John were used by God to heal the lame man at the temple gate called Beautiful. They were arrested by the temple officials and later released with a warning not to speak or teach anymore in the Name of Jesus. They replied and said “Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, ye Judge.” In Acts 5 Peter and the other Apostles were arrested again and released out of jail by the angel of God and commanded to “Go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” When they were brought before the high priest, the captain of the temple and the chief priests and reprimanded, in verse 29 they replied “We ought to obey God rather than men.” The Apostles were warned again and beaten. Verse 41 says “And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His Name.” The Bible says they continued daily to teach and preach Jesus in every house and in the temple. If you have to face the consequences of obeying God remember what 1Peter4:14, 16 says “If ye be reproached for the Name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God rest upon you...”
“Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”
